2019 Passport to Fishing Clinic

On Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. youth can engage in a hands-on rotation of stations featuring Fish Habitat, Fish Handling, Fishing Knots and Rigging, Casting, Smart Boating and Water Safety and Understanding a Watershed taught by local instructors of partnering agencies and organizations.

This clinic is free but registration is required. Deadline to register is May 22, please visit the Knox County Park District at www.knoxcountyparks.org and click on the Events tab for registration form. Space is limited to the first 100 youth to register.

Kokosing Valley Jr. Anglers

The Kokosing Valley Jr. Anglers is seeking interested  students to join their Knox County youth fishing club. Membership is currently being taken for youth ages 11-18 before August 31, 2019. The club is affiliated with the Ohio Bass Federation and Fishing League Worldwide. Members compete in local and state tournaments next spring. If you like to fish, this club is for YOU!  The club is involved with many activities including 4-H throughout the year. If interested in more information, email kokosingvalleyjranglers@hotmail.com for a registration form. An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the CA&C Depot, 501 S. Main Street Mount Vernon. You many also call 740-485-1411 to register. Seating is limited, register to attend.

Saturday, June 23, 8:30 – a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Wolf Run Regional Park, 17621 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon 

The Passport to Fishing Clinic is a great event for beginner to advanced anglers ages 8-18.  Youth will engage in a hands-on rotation of six stations featuring Fish Habitat, Fish Handling, Fishing Knots and Rigging, Casting, Smart Boating /Water Safety and Understanding a Watershed. The stations are taught by local instructors of partnering agencies and organizations. Each youth attendee will receive a Subway ™ box lunch, a bottled water and a Zebco Fishing Rod and Reel.  Event sponsors include Kokosing Valley Jr Anglers Youth Fishing Club, the Knox County Park District, the Ohio Division of Wildlife, Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation and Amanda Hills Spring Water.  The event is free but pre-registration is required  and must be made by June 2.  The event is limited to 100 attendees. Passport to Fishing Youth Clinic

This clinic is for youth ages 8-18 that are beginners clear up to experience anglers.  It will be held on Saturday, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wolf Run Regional Park (17621 Yauger Road, Mount Vernon).  The clinic will be free and registration is required by June 2 by visiting www.knoxcountyparks.org.  A box lunch will be provided and there will be prize drawings at the end of the day.  Each attendee will receive a free fishing rod.

Two informational meetings will be held on Tuesday September 26 OR Tuesday October 24 at the Knox County OSU Extension Office from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at 160 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon. You may also call 740-485-1411 to register. The club is affiliated with the Ohio Bass Federation and Fishing League Worldwide. Members compete in local and state tournaments next spring. If you like to fish, this club is for YOU!  The club is involved with many activities throughout the year and some of our members participate in 4H. If interested in more information, email kokosingvalleyjranglers@hotmail.com for a registration form or use the one that is attached. Membership Fee is $45.00 which includes membership to the Ohio Bass Federation and Fishing League Worldwide. Members will also get a bass magazine subscription.
