Legos at the Library Open House Dec 6

Partnering with the library, we will be hosting an informational meeting about the programs available through 4-H and the library for little Lego builders! Programs include Cloverbud Engineering Adventure, the Cloverbud state-wide showcase, and getting involved with the brick building group at the Mt Vernon public library. We encourage youth in grades K-5 to attend with and emphasis on Cloverbuds (grades K-2).

2021 4-H Cloverbot Challenge

This year we’re going to space and the challenge happens on Mars! Cloverbuds will design a place to live on the Red Planet and create a model featuring their method of transportation. The 4-H Clvoerbot Challenge will be virtual via Zoom on Monday, July 12 or Thursday, July 22 from 6:30-8 p.m. All teams must register by June 30 and new teams can order a kit to help them get started at a reduced rate thanks to support from the Ohio 4-H Foundation.

What is the Cloverbot Challenge?

The Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge gives 4-H Cloverbuds the opportunity to work cooperatively in teams to problem-solve using STEM (science, engineering, technology and math) skills. A new theme is selected each year and teams  research a topic, build a working model of their solution to the Challenge issue and create a poster to illustrate their findings. Teams present their models and findings to a team of reviewers, learn about other Cloverbuds’ projects, participate in age-appropriate STEM activities and are recognized at a closing celebration.

2020 4-H Cloverbot Challenge: On the Move! – UPDATED (04/15/2020)

MOVED TO A VIRTUAL EVENT……

With the new restrictions on programming in June, we have shifted gears and are now offering the Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge for all Cloverbuds to participate individually instead of as a team/club – no registration required. Individual Cloverbuds can construct their models with LEGO’s or whatever kind of interlocking blocks they have available. Then they can send a picture to us for display in a virtual gallery on the state 4-H website. A certificate will also be emailed to each participant. The deadline is June 13, 2020.

Please share this information with your families. This is a great opportunity for Cloverbuds to participate since they don’t have projects to work on right now. All the details can be found at the website: https://ohio4h.org/families/cloverbuds/cloverbot-challenge

2019 Cloverbot Challenge: When I Grow Up

The 2019 Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge will be held on Saturday, June 29 at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center.  Deadline for registration is May 1.  Flyer: 2019 Cloverbot Challenge[1]-1tg9g2l

A firefighter, a scientist, a teacher, an accountant, a farmer, a game designer, a veterinarian…what do you want to be when you grow up? The 2019 4-H Cloverbot Challenge is all about careers and learning what it takes to do that special job.

Explore
Cloverbot teams will spend their time finding out about possible occupations. As a team, narrow your list to one or two similar careers:
• What is the demand for your chosen job?
• What skills are needed?
• Do you need to go to college or technical school? How long?
• What are benefits and why are they important to a job?
• Where do you do your job?

The Challenge
Use the answers to one or more of these questions and find the challenges related to that profession, then create your model showing the occupation in action.

2019 4-H Cloverbot Challenge

The 4-H Cloverbot Challenge is a statewide event designed just for our youngest 4-H’ers – Cloverbuds.  Teams work together to research a topic, build a model out of interlocking bricks and create a poster highlighting their experience. On June 29, the teams will come together at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center to share their work, visit with one another, participate in kid-friendly activities, and celebrate their efforts with a closing celebration and award ceremony.

Teams may have a minimum of two members, but no more than eight, and are coached by an adult team leader. Details and registration information can be found at https://ohio4h.org/families/cloverbuds/cloverbot-challenge

2018 Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Astro Challenge for Cloverbuds

The Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge is blasting off for 2018! This year the theme is all about space and learning ways in which humans could live in space for extended periods. This is a great event where Cloverbuds work in teams to problem-solve using STEM skills. Teams research the topic, build a model of their solution out of interlocking bricks (ie: Mega Blocks), create a poster illustrating their work and present to families and other teams at the Cloverbot Challenge on June 9 at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. Find all the details at: https://ohio4h.org/families/cloverbuds/cloverbot-challenge.
