Virtual State 4-H Horse Advisor Training
I wanted to reach out and remind everyone that this year’s State 4-H Horse Advisor/Volunteer Training will be held virtually via OSU Scarlet. Modules of content to explore will be open from 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28 through 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31. There will also be an optional Q&A Zoom meeting Saturday, January 30 from 10-12 pm. We are excited to say that there are many new changes to the Uniform Rules for 4-H Horse Shows and are encouraging our extension professionals to reach out to your county horse committees and ask them to participate online to become more aware of what those changes look like. Mainly the advent of new scoring systems for pattern classes and the expansion of our ranch horse division to now include a separate showmanship and horsemanship class. Registration is required, although there is no cost to participate. Information can be found online at https://ohio4h.org/events/virtual-state-4-h-horse-advisorvolunteer-training-session including an event schedule. Please share with all your equine advisors and volunteers. Extension professionals are also welcomed. If you have any questions, please email cole.436@osu.edu or stutzman.34@osu.edu
Best,
Duane
Online Training for Club Volunteers
The North Central Region Volunteer Specialists are excited to share with you a new online training resource: “4-H EZ: Recipe for Community Club Success.”
This training includes 6 videos, handouts, and resources that go with the videos. Volunteers can watch the videos and review the handouts and resources designed for club use. We have also included a “4-H EZ Application Guide” that allows you to reflect on the videos and apply the information specifically to your 4-H Community Club.
This online training can be completed by yourself or with a group of youth and adult volunteers. Volunteers can complete the videos all in one setting or divide them up, as needed, for their schedule.
The videos are available at: http://bit.ly/4-HEZ. Click on the heading of each section to go to the video. They will first be asked to sign in, and then can click on the video link. At the end of each video, they will be asked to reflect on something learned and offer suggestions for future training opportunities.
We thank you for your interest in strengthening your 4-H Clubs and hope that 4-H EZ will help our Volunteers with these efforts!
