2023 4-H Cultural Immersion Project – Puerto Rico

2023 4-H Cultural Immersion Project – Puerto Rico applications are open.  The  experience is from November 21 – November 29, 2023.

After receiving the application, follow-up interviews will be scheduled to select participants.  Final selections will be posted in mid-August.  4-H youth ages 15-18 (as of date of trip) are encouraged to apply. Teens must still be in high school as of the date of the trip to participate.

The cost is $1,400.  (This includes airfare, ground transportation, most meals, lodging, and program fees)

Deadline to Apply:  July 14, 2023

Teens will experience both the vibrant  Old San Juan urban area as well as life in the remote mountain town of Castañer.  The group be working with Puerto Rican 4-H members in joint service projects as well as leading a team building workshop for students at University Gardens High School in San Juan.  Outdoor recreation as well as daily cultural activities will challenge them to expand their worldview and examine their bias and stereotypes.

ANY military connected youth may attend these camps.

Teen Kelleys Island Camp

A 5-day and 4-night adventure on Kelleys Island. Activities include sailing, swimming, rafting, kayaking, volleyball, soccer, archery, lined dances, crafts, campfire, and more!

Dates: Sunday, July 30 to Thursday, August 3

Location: Kelleys Island

Age: 12 – 15 years of age by the time of camp

Cost: $125 per youth

Deadline: 11:59 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023

Youth Kelleys Island Camp

Northeastern Ohio Family Camp

Join us for a fun-filled Troop & Family Camp this fall! Any military family is eligible to participate. Nestled between a hollow and historical orchards, this camp has a beautiful lodge, cabins, a lake, and a wooded campfire area available for camp use. Hiking trails and canoeing may be available.

Dates: Friday, August 25 to Sunday, August 27

Location: Northeastern Ohio

Cost: $125 for 4, $10 per person after

Northern Ohio Family Camp

Join us for a fun-filled Troop & Family Camp this fall! Any military family is eligible to participate. This camp is located in a unique island setting, has cabins, a sand beach, craft hall, recreation hall, and campfire areas. This small island location offers historic parks, a scenic ferry ride, and a beautiful coastline.

Dates: Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10

Location: Northern Ohio

Cost: $125 for 4, $10 per person after

Central Ohio Family Camp

Join us for a fun-filled Troop & Family Camp this fall! Any military family is eligible to participate. This camp has more than 500 acres to explore, high & low ropes courses, cabins, climbing, ziplining, and recreational areas. Activities may include creeking, tie-dye, leather crafts, and more!

Dates: Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24

Location: Central Ohio

Cost: $125 for 4, $10 per person after

4-H STEM Camp at Canter’s Cave

  • Youth in grades 5-7 are invited to join us at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp June 19th-21st for STEM Camp 2023!
  • 4-H STEM Camp is an overnight camping opportunity for youth interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We are excited to be able to offer STEM Camp at a reduced rate thanks to a 4-H Foundation Grant, lowering the cost of camp for youth to just $100.00.

The TSC paper clover spring fundraiser starts today! 90% of the money raised stays in our county and goes toward CAMP and LEADERSHIP activities for the 4-H youth. Spring Paper Clovers: 4/26/23 — 5/7/23
 
4/29/23 Cloverbud Saturday: Dress for the weather! We will be outside in nature for the majority of the program. **Still looking for some volunteers to help out!** We have several nature activities planned including a listening walk, book, leaf art and STEM activity.
Shooting Sports Range Days: We are changing the date from May 14 to MAY 7 so we avoid Mother’s Day. The range day will be held at Campbell’s Sportsman’s Club from 4:00-6:00pm that day. Knox County Junior Fair Livestock Ambassadors 

  • Applications are due Thursday, June 1, 2023.
  • Judging will be Tuesday, June 20, 2023 beginning as early as 4 pm. You will be contacted with an exact judging time. Judging will take place at the Ramser 4-H Activity Center.\

Specie Requirements for Beef, Canine, Dairy, Goat, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep and Swine

Senior Ambassador

  • Age: 15-19 years of age as of January 1, 2023
  • Member of a Knox County 4-H or FFA program.
  • Enrolled in the species project you are applying to be the ambassador of.
  • Have completed at least one year of the species project you are apply to be the ambassador of.
  • Show your project species at the 2023 Knox County Junior Fair.
  • 250 word essay stating why you would like to be the Knox County Junior Fair species ambassador and your plans to promote the industry.  (Essays need to be brought and presented at your interview.)

Junior Ambassador

  • Youth may be a Junior, Senior, or Draft Horse Royalty only once.
  • Enrolled in an equine project.
  • Show your equine project at the 2023 Knox County Junior Fair.
  • The candidates must present themselves appropriately in attire (including hats), attitude and demeanor.
  • In 250 words or less state why you would like to be the Knox County Senior or Junior Horse King or Queen. You will also be required to take a test during the competition.

Tractor Supply Company Clover Spring Campaign

Since 2010, Tractor Supply has partnered with 4‑H to help create Opportunity4All and raise more than $14 million through the Paper Clover campaign. The success of these campaigns has impacted over 81,500 youth by providing them with the tools and resources they need to move forward and reach their full potential.

100 percent of funds raised through the bi-annual Paper Clover campaign directly benefits 4‑H youth. 80 percent of donations directly support 4‑H youth in the county where the funds were raised, and the remaining210 percent supports the overall mission and growth of 4‑H at the state level and nationally.

Dates for the 2023 Paper Clover Campaigns are:

Heart of the Great Outdoors 4-H Project Day

Calling All Ohio 4-H’ers!

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) invites Ohio 4-H members to explore the state’s rich natural wonders through hands-on activities that fulfill the requirements of select project books.  4-H members will disperse throughout Alum Creek State Park to participate in workshops led by expert ODNR staff and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers volunteers.

2023 Knolmes County Camp Registration Open!

Knolmes County 4-H Junior Camp Registration!
Junior Camp is open to youth between the ages of 8 and 13 that are in at least 3rd grade. This year’s Junior Camp will be held on June 6 – 9, 2023 at 4-H Camp Ohio in St Louisville.  Counselors will move in June 5, campers will move in the morning of June 6. Registration link is at the bottom of the information.
Early Bird Camping fees are :
4-H Member: $235.00
Non-4-H Member: $250.00
After April 21, Camping fees are :
 4-H Member: $245.00
Non-4-H Member: $260.00
Early Bird registration ends April 21. After that date, registration will increase $10 per camper.

Scholarships and Discounts:
  • A limited number of full and partial camp scholarships are available for 4-H members.  Scholarship applications will be emailed to those who indicate the need for a scholarship in this registration survey.
  • Participants with multiple siblings attending camp will receive $5 off each camper registration.
  • Farm Bureau families are automatically awarded a $50 scholarship.
After you complete the registration survey below, you will receive an email to complete the health and permissions form.
Registration for Junior Camp is NOT complete until 1) this registration survey is completed, 2) payment has been received, and 3) the health form survey completed.

Specific camp information will be emailed to you when the registration period is complete. All payments must be received by your extension office by MAY 19, 2023.
