Meeting #5
Date: February 7, 2018
Time: 12:45PM – 2:05PM
Members Present: All
Objective:
- Advanced R&D
- Performing tests on the AEV in a controlled way
- Measuring usage of power between tests
- Determining relationships between battery voltage and number of test runs
- Determining relationships between battery voltage and distance traveled
To-do:
- Members need to measure the voltage of a fully charged battery, before the test, and after the test, to see the relationship between # of tests and distances respective to battery voltage.
Decisions:
- Each member helped test the battery in a controlled environment with the same function of code in each try.
Reflections:
- Difficulty arose when the AEV was moving in the opposite direction for the entire lab period, so the team adjusted to it with a reverse() function call. Each run with the AEV resulted in a voltage drop of 0.001V for the half of the trip on the AEV track, thus a total of 0.004V for the entire track without cargo.
Future work:
- The division will work on preparing for the committee meeting, discussing the findings for the previous experiments and progression of the group, as well as present a part they would like to get funding for.
Meeting #6
Date: February 14, 2018
Time: 12:45PM – 2:05PM
Members Present: All
Objective:
- Committee Meeting
- Grant Proposal & Vote
To-do:
- Members will present their findings for the Preliminary R&D experiments, website updates and control, as well as a report on the team and discuss team details.
Decisions:
- Each member will choose a role to provide information to the director of each field (Website and code, team events, and progression)
Reflections:
- The division is on the right track, however some work is needed to comprehensively discuss information in labs by quantitive explainations, not by geeralized summaries. The division is making progress overall.
Future work:
- All members will prepare for the next experiment: utilizing the servo for the AEV braking system. Each member will be contributing in the collection of data and testing.
Meeting #7
Date: February 21, 2018
Time: 12:45PM – 2:05PM
Members Present: All
Objective:
- Advanced R&D
- Understand the functions of the servo and how it can be integrated.
- Perform experiments using the servo to determine utility for the AEV.
To-do:
- Choose a potential use for the servo, positioning of the servo, and conduct experiments to see the effectiveness of the servo’s utility for the division’s usage.
Decisions:
- The members in the division chose to use it as brakes for the AEV, and to mount it under the wheel, so it brings friction to the track with an eraser.
Reflections:
- The division found that the usage of the servo was hindering the progression for the AEV and decided they will attempt once more with the servo in a differet design layout, to see whether they can utilize it in their brake system idea.
Meeting #8
Date: February 28, 2018
Time: 12:45PM – 2:05PM
Members Present: All
Objective:
- Oral Presentations
To-do:
- Each division will present their findings for the previous experiments conducted with the companies present.
Decisions:
- Each member of the team will discuss each portion of the presentation in detail: Introductory of the members and labs, defining the problems and discussing the results, conclusions and Q&A’s.
Reflections:
- The division discussed the Battery Testing and Servo Testing labs of what it was and how it was done, as well as discussing the results with the audience.
