Final Performance Test

The final performance test completed all of the same requirements as performance test 3. These requirements are listed below:

  1. Begin at starting dock
  2. Proceed to the gate
  3. Stop with front wheel between first and second gate sensors
  4. Pause for 7 seconds
  5. Proceed through gate
  6. Proceed to the loading zone at the opposite end of the track
  7. Connect to the caboose without the vehicle’s front wheel passing the initial position of the caboose’s front wheel
  8. Pause for 5 seconds
  9. Exit the loading zone
  10. Proceed to the gate
  11. Stop with front wheel between first and second gate sensors
  12. Proceed through the gate
  13. Return to the starting dock and stop there

The requirements of the final performance test were exactly the same as those for the third performance test, so it could be completed easily once performance test 3 had been successfully completed. Performance test 3 had not been completed on the same testing track that the final performance test was, however, so some slight modifications had to be made to the program. Once these modifications were made and tested thoroughly, the final performance test was graded, and its data was recorded and input into the cost spreadsheet.

The final performance test used a total of 236.885 joules over the course of 54.962 seconds. All of the requirements of the performance test were completed with full accuracy and no safety violations. This led to the total costs shown in the figure below.

The entire program used to complete this final performance test can be seen at the bottom of the Arduino Programs page.
