Artifact 2

David Wiseley

A couple weeks ago I met with the Chief Financial Officer of the office of student life at The Ohio State University.  This was a good opportunity to see what he does in his day-to-day responsibilities and learn about possible financial career paths. This was important to me because it is beneficial to meet successful people in the career field of your choice.  While at The Ohio State University, I have had the opportunity to meet many successful professionals in Finance and politics; these are opportunities that did not occur as often as in high school. I plan to meet with more professionals to network and learn about possible career routes.

Artifact One

My artifact is my google calendar. It is important to me because it allows me to stay organized throughout the semester. I learned that in college I need to use some type of planner due to everything I am involved with; in high school I could just remember everything. Using this calendar allows me to be successful and organized in the future.

G.O.A.L.S.

I am currently serving as a Deputy Director in the Governmental Relations Committee in Undergraduate Student Government. I feel that this role and activity plays well into the G.O.A.L.S. message. A primary job of mine while on this committee is to register voters, get out the vote, and get the student body engaged with their elected officials. I am bringing global awareness to the student body by showing them that their vote truly does matter. For original inquiry, I am constantly questioning what can make our university better then further advocating on behalf of my peers. Academic enrichment is key and I am always learning from my environment and the people I interact with daily. Leadership development is what makes good leaders great and that is why I am always attending leadership workshops and events. Finally service engagement is what keeps our community strong, so I am committed to always helping out my local community.

About Me

Seth Williamson is a freshman at The Ohio State University. He recently moved from Virginia and is excited to see where these next four years will take him. He is currently a finance major and plans on minoring or pursuing a double major in political science.  Growing up near Washington D.C., he has always been surrounded by the political climate and wants to make an impact at the federal level. He is currently looking into two paths after college: either a career in investments (such as a hedge fund or investment bank), or a career in politics that involves finance. He is excited to join clubs that relate to his career path.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
