Dream Journal 1

My dream played out like a strange game show that was a combination of the Hunger Games and Saw. Contestants were all brought into this game-show-esque reality against their will. Every contestant shared one attribute, they were stuck in a state of comatose. The host of this demented gameshow was a villain that had the ability to bring the contestant’s subconscious minds into his game. Not only that, but this shady character had also kidnapped a loved one from each of the contestants to use as a hostage. I don’t remember too many characteristics of this villain, but he definitely had the eyes of a snake and could control snakes as well. Maybe there was some Harry Potter mixed in this dream as well. Anyways, the contestant that won this game would wake up from their coma and also save the life of their loved one. The initial round of this game show was a death match, just like in the Hunger Games. My weapon was a sword and that’s about all I remember from this round. Once a sufficient number of contestants had been weeded out, the game progressed to the next stage which was a race on an obstacle course in the water. That’s about it that I can specifically remember from the dream, but I have some ideas how I could use the elements and principals of art to portray it.

The second round race, the one that greatly resembled a lazy river with hazards, could be portrayed using Movement to give the viewer a sense of motion to go along with the current of the river. Another element I’d like to incorporate is repetition. A similar image to the Hunger Games appeared in my dream when all of the contestants were arranged in a circle preceding the first round. I think Repetition could be used to show the silhouettes of each contestant in a wide circle. Also with this image, I could use Space to show that there was a large number of contestants initially if I had the image ‘zoomed out’ so to speak.

Dream Journal 2

My most recent dream, that I can recall anyways, was pretty domestic and boring. The only part that I can remember was an imaginary lecture that I was receiving from my Step-Dad. He was looking over my credit card charges and getting mad at me, it was more of a scolding really. He thought that I wasn’t budgeting wisely or something along those lines, basically a typical parental lecture! I probably had a dream like this because of the expenses of being back in school. Textbooks, utility bills, groceries etc… It adds up and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t stressful! Anyways, pretty mundane dream, I know, but it’s all I’ve got because I haven’t been able to recall too many of my dreams recently. I’ll try getting more sleep and see if that helps!

Dream Journal 3

I can’t remember too many details from this dream, but my most recent dream was definitely a weird one. It was about two fugitives who could somehow control these two Loch-Ness-Esque sea monsters (Elasmosaurus). They were fugitives because the military had been using their ability for, well, military purposes. The two fugitives were tired of being used by the military, or something like that, so they decided to run away. I forget if I was actually one of the fugitives, or just someone close to them, but in this dream they were definitely the protagonists. My dream concluded just when the military had found the fugitives and conflict was about to ensue, with sea monsters and everything! Why do dreams always have to end at the most exciting parts?!
