Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. About Me

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Whetstone! I am pursuing a major in Molecular Genetics on a Pre-Medicine track in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University. I’m a member of the International Affairs (IA) Scholars Program, the founder and president of the Women’s Club Handball Team at The Ohio State University, Club Operation Smile, and am an Ohio State Welcome Leader. Upon receiving my bachelors degree, I hope to attend medical school where I can expand my knowledge of medicine and learn how to help people in greater capacities. My career goals involve practicing surgery and bringing medical care to underserved communities. My desire to help others that cannot afford medical treatment stemmed from my personal experience of being born with a cleft lip and palate. In addition, I lived in Brazil for a year with the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program, where I was a part of a meaningful community that provided wellness services for those in need. When I am not in class, I enjoy running long distances, working in a local greenhouse, and baking delicious foods. Overall, these experiences have led to my ability to stay focused, determined, and involved in any activities I do within the community.

In conclusion, I am hoping that my E-portfolio represents my ability to be an inclusive leader in diverse populations as well as express my passion for helping and learning from different communities globally.
