During the Spring Semester of 2020, I began volunteering at the Wexner Medical Center. I was a volunteer at the Surgical Intensive Care Unit waiting desk. My job was to take back visitors and keep the waiting room in order. Through this experience, I was able to see how a hospital works and learn of about the certain policies they have. I was also able to witness how people reacted to stressful situations. Most of the patients in the SICU were very sick and some of them were dying. This led to visitors being very emotional. This helped me be more empathetic to others and learn how I can be helpful in those situations.
