Hiding in Plain Sight

Mechanics

Prototypes

Objective

Analyze a space. Use your research of the space to successfully ‘hide’ a text-based riddle or a revealed secret.

Final

*disclaimer* I wasn’t able to capture the perspective change with my IPhone camera and had plans to photograph this with my DSL camera after spring break, but I was not able to get to my installation with my camera before the shut-down. So, I have illustrated above what the effect was.

Reflection

This project was unlike anything I had ever done before, which is why I tried not to simplify the use of perspective manipulation. I actually really enjoyed the challenge of working with the angles to get the perspective effect that I wanted. I am also glad that I stuck with my original idea of having “and opens windows” appear in the window across the way instead of finding an easy solution to hiding my reveal. Not that an easier solution would’ve been a bad solution, but I wanted to challenge myself to continue to step out of my comfort zone and I was really successful with that. In this project, I continued to grow my knowledge and understanding of space and how to successfully analyze it. Also someone came by and underlined the would “that” which upset me until I realized that it can be taken as a compliment that my project looked natural enough that it fit the space.
