This section addresses designing an evaluation plan, implementing a Quality Matters evaluation, and reporting performance results related to coaching learners.
EVALUATION PLAN
As a member of the evaluation team for a management training course developed by Ohio State for the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, I developed the evaluation questions, sources of data, and evaluation method; e.g., questionnaire, focus group, interviews, or observations.
QUALITY MATTERS EVALUATION
I am certified as a Quality Matters peer reviewer through the University of Maryland’s inter-institutional QA program. Although the process involves input from three reviewers, only my comments are visible in this evaluation.
COACHING AND FEEDBACK EVALUATION
After evaluating the effect of a coaching and feedback intervention I facilitated, we suggest that over time, the frequency of higher-order thinking will increase more in a group that receives coaching and feedback than in a group that does not receive coaching and feedback. The article titled From ‘hello’ to higher-order thinking: The effect of coaching and feedback on online chats published in the Internet and Higher Education led to my providing coaching and feedback for subsequent groups.
