About Me

Hey there! I’m Catherine Wang, a 18-year-old college student at the Ohio State University. I graduated from Pickerington High School Central, which is located at the heart of Pick-town, home of the ever spirited & fun-loving Tigers.

High school was a very enjoyable time for me. Filled with social engagements, academic clubs, and many new experiences, I was definitely not counting down the days to graduation. If my high school life was a pumpkin pie, the crust would be academics; the pumpkin filling would be a homogeneous mixture of music (my trusty clarinet and I were part of almost every band offered at my school), volunteering (member of Key Club & NHS), Science Olympiad, and Student Council; the whipped cream and dash of cinnamon would hands down claim the highlights of my years: my AP Psychology class, Prom, band camp, musical pit, and the band trip to Arizona. This whole pie, fresh from the oven, has made me who I am today: a new-found Buckeye ready to take on the challenges the future will bring.

Now some more “personal” bits: my favorite color is green (green is known to relax your eyes and relieve stress); I dislike the rain because I always have to wipe my glasses; people love describing me as awkward and too curious for my own good; you can always find me laughing to something or another; and I really love puns and clever word play, except I’m not good at coming up with them myself.

As to professional goals: I’m currently undecided in major because I have two possible paths that I want to further explore before I lock-in my decision.

First, medicine. I have been plagued with skin problems since the  4th grade, and every dermatologist I have seen would prescribe medicine for my skin that would claim to treat my acne, but would never show any progress. Out of all of the medicinal branches available, I would choose a path in dermatology. Research, clinical duties, or both, I am interested in anything.

Second, business. I was talking with an alumni of OSU about her major in International Business. She spoke only words of praise for OSU’s Fisher College of Business and really inspired me to look into a major in Operations. If I were to major in Operations, I would love to minor in Psychology, simply because I enjoy the subject, and also because I think it would benefit me in a job in the business world.

Dreams & goals at OSU in general: I’m looking forward to studying abroad, joining a variety of clubs, playing in a sport, meeting new people, and just growing and improving into a better person.
