Week 11-12: Movie Making Story Telling

This video tries to depict a girl who possesses the magic, which she could use some very simple actions to make the thing works. Like she could turn on the light by clapping hands. The special effects in this movie enhance her magical ability. The movie differs from a single photograph since the audience could see more details through the movie. In addition, the movie reflects the character’s characteristics much better than a still photo.

At the beginning of the video, I reverse the video with countdown number, which makes the video play from backward and shows a small part of the video. I add a filter on each clip in this video, which creates a mysterious atmosphere. Also, I use a mystery music downloaded from YouTube as the background music. Furthermore, I downloaded some sounds to make the special effect more vivid. For example twinkle dust sound, car brake sound, and spring sound etc. Besides using iMovie, I use the keynote as well. I add the motion on the special effects that are in the last part of the video.

Week 9-10: Stop Motion

I use this stop motion video to show my own experience from a baby to now. There are several scenes in this video including some important moments in my life, especially my education. Also, I mentioned one of the most crucial things in my life is “Be happy everyday”.

The workflow of this video is not that complex, but it is indeed time-consuming. I draw every single piece of characters displayed in this video, and cut them along the edge. Then, add some colors to make the characters more vivid. After, I put them in order on white paper, and take photos with chronological order. These are the preparation before setting them in the iMovie. In iMovie, I add background music, text and map to make this video more complete. From my perspective, I think the difference between a movie and a single photograph is the movie is able to tell the story of one’s identity from diverse aspects by movement while single photo only sees the one side.
