Underexposed & Overexposed
The below series of photo shows the effect of underexposed and overexposed. It is obvious to see that the left one is underexposed and the right one is overexposed. Why I captured photo at rpac is, rpac is not only one of the biggest and most wonderful gyms around the nation but represents OSU is full of energy, power and passion. For the underexposed one, I changed brightness of original photo to make the picture much darker, which makes people feel lonely and disconsolate. In contrast, I changed brightness of the photo as well, but this time, the picture looks brighter. The light becomes sharper and there are a lots noisy points in the sky. The feelings of this overexposed photo are positive and energetic as OSU teaches and shows to us.
Cold Color & Warm Color
The below series of photo shows the effect of cold color and warm color. The picture in the middle is original, and I took this picture at Thompson library which located at the oval. The main color tone of first row is cold. I changed temperature setting of this series of photo. The right one is 50% cold color, and the middle one is 100% cold color. The left one is 100% cold color with some green for shadow. The cold tone makes the picture feel cold and peace. The set of photos on third row is in warm color tone. Just like the cold color set, the left one is 50% warm color, the middle one is 100% warm color, and the right one is 100% warm color with yellow on shadow while use yellow to highlight the whole image. The warm color makes people feel warm and smooth. For this image, in my opinion, I like the cold color set since the original is kind of warm color. When add cold color, which can be contrasted with warm light.
OSU Community
O-H-I-O
Why I took this series of images is, the motion of O-H-I-O is one of the traditions of OSU. And when I took this set photos, I chose four school landmark locations as the backgrounds, which are oval, Thompson library, Rpac and Ohio Stadium. As a buckeye, these four places reflect student’s different life states. Oval is for people who want to relax; Thompson is for studying; Rpac is for exercising and stadium is for heart stirring football.
Diversity
OSU is an international university, and there are over 6000 international students from more than 1o0 countries. Because of the diversity, everyone needs to respect people from different cultural backgrounds. I took this image at Nosker House located at north campus. It shows the students’ big heart that gives the residential students a warm welcome no matter where are you come from.
OSU community means a lot to me, not only I am a buckeye, but as a buckeye I should be a warm, brave, positive person. The faculty and students teach me be a warmhearted and helpful person. The fans of football teach me be a polite person due to we are the best fans in the land. Everything in OSU community is fantastic.
