G.O.A.L.S.

Under my major, Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies, I plan to use my knowledge gathered from my coursework to join and build in clubs and life-long connections while learning more about my peers and aspects of diversity. Studying abroad might provide a new perspective of the world and help me gain better insight into cultural awareness and respect the culture difference. The best part about being a buckeye is access to one of the best research universities in the country. I expect developing many research projects and progressing my field with my studies. My passion for my major and social justice will act as a catalyst to research and creative projects involving professors and scholars at Ohio State and throughout the United States. Taking honors courses could help me bridge and develop original inquiry. As for academic enrichment, being a participant of honors & scholars will advance the scope of my knowledge and cultivate new ideas and use the program to exemplify academic excellence in and out of the classroom. While furthering my academics, I project that the same excellence will grow my leadership skills and help me better become a leader in society. I also plan to remain committed to making change via activism and social justice.

About Me

Hello! My name is Bailey Turner, a first-year student at OSU. I decided to take my love for activism and social justice into my major, Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies. During the course of my studies, I plan to make a larger impact on society and forge a path that hopefully, one day, many women will follow. I find so much joy in helping others and leadership, so my gcareer will be in politics—either as a congresswoman, the Supreme Court Chief Justice, or (fingers-crossed) the president! Before all of those achievements, I’m going to attend law school and maybe even get my PhD in WGSS. I expect law school and my PhD will help me exceed my goals and create long-lasting connections. However, my life-time goal is to create a non-profit focused on providing health and shelter services for those in need. Inside this non-profit, there will be a private OB/GYN to educate and examine patients, LGBTQI+ support groups, different forms of therapy, night classes, financial counselors, pro bono lawyers, guest speakers, a large library, and so much more. While this short paragraph talks about my goals, I hope one day all of them will be true.
