Dr. Heather Tubbs Cooley is an Associate Professor of Nursing and a Principal Investigator in the Center for Perinatal Research at the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Tubbs Cooley serves as Director of the College of Nursing’s Health Services Research Collaborative and is a faculty affiliate of the Ohio State University Translational Data Analytics Institute and the OSU CATALYST. She leads the Health Through Care lab, a health services research laboratory focused on the organization, delivery, and outcomes of nursing care and nurse-delivered services primarily in pediatric and neonatal settings.

Areas of research in the Health Through Care Lab include:

  • Nursing workforce dynamics
  • Novel measurement of nurse workload
  • Evaluation of clinician workload and its relationship to patient outcomes
  • Patient safety
  • Use of large clinical and administrative datasets to model clinical care dynamics
