Course Crafting: Help Students Find Meaning in Course Experiences
Students sometimes say the only reason they enrolled in a course was to fulfill a requirement for their curriculum. A course may otherwise be seen as a hurdle to be jumped on the way to a degree and a job. If this is a concern in your course, consider adopting a course crafting approach to help students find value in your course. Task crafting, relational crafting, and cognitive crafting are described in this Faculty Focus article along with specific strategies to help students build a sense of purpose through engagement with course content and interactions with faculty and peers.
