Converting a Paper to a Multimedia Assignment

If you’ve ever felt discouraged by grading a large number of written papers, you might find that a multimedia assignment will reinvigorate your passion for assessing creative student work.  Anita Zehala shared her journey through the converstion of a nursing philosophy assignment from a traditional paper format to a multimedia submission.

In the new assignment format, students created a video of themselves sharing their philosophy of nursing.  Anita assessed the content of their philosophy statement as well as students’ professionalism and engagement in the topic, and she was able to learn more about each student and their perspective from their videos than she would have from a traditional paper.
