Roaming Daikanyama the other night, another one of Invader’s Intruders was spotted in what looks like a medicine bottle. A pretty large mosaic off the main street in Daikanyama right next to the pedestrian bridge.

JR Covers the Watarium

IMG_3802JR at the Watarium and in Japan

The street artist JR had a solo exhibition at the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in 2013. He covered the outside of the Watarium in his famous large scale photographs of people affected by the disaster in Northern Japan. The photographs are still seen even today (above, taken July 2015).

 Intruder invades Shibuya yet again, after passing Tower Records music shop, heading towards Yoyogi Park. Beneath the intruder is The London Police‘s LAD character. The side of this building is covered in street art and stickers. Go check it out!

The London Police on Takeshita Street, Harajuku

The London Police (TLP) are know for their LADS characters (above) which can be found in various parts of Tokyo. This past Spring, TLP had their first solo exhibit in Japan at the Megumi Ogita Gallery in Ginza. There, they displayed their works of their LADS characters around the world. You can read more about their “World Tour” exhibition HERE.

 D*FACE says Goodbye Kitty

The London-based street artist, D*FACE put up his Goodbye Kitty piece in winter 2013 during his solo exhibit at the PARCO department store in Shibuya. You can find this piece across the Tokyu Hands department store, across the street from the Starbucks.

Nick Walker, the stencil artist arrived to Tokyo in August 2014 for his solo exhibition at PARCO, Shibuya store. The piece at FAKE TOKYO is no longer at this location, works here are changing constantly. But be sure to check who is next on the board, in the alley way between LOFT and the oneway street.

Are you an early bird who wants to get outside ASAP when you wake up? Or maybe the jet-lag is coming into affect while visiting Tokyo. If so, go take a stroll around Shimokitazawa’s many small side roads. The shop doors are covered with great street art (some commissioned, some not), and worth seeing before they go into hiding while the store is open.

Kitty Riot

Dolk’s Kitty Riot

Tucked away off an alley street in Harajuku, the fashion district of Tokyo, Kitty Riot is there. Born in Norway, DOLK originally started using stencils to produce his street art. He has visited Japan included Osaka and Tokyo multiple times. Kitty Riot was completed during his 2012 visit. It is definitely a piece worth discovering!

Zio Ziegler in Harajuku

Zio Ziegler BEAMS VANS MURAL

BEAMS X Vans X Japan X Zio Ziegler

Emerging San Francisco based painter, Zio Ziegler, paints to have better self understanding. He is consistently producing new works all over the globe on canvas and in public spaces (street murals). The young artist graduated in 2010 from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with B.A. in painting.

He recently launched his own lifestyle and clothing brand, “Atre Sempre” to allow his art to become accessible to the public. This past summer 2014, Zio came to BEAMS, Harajuku, Japan to celebrate his collaboration with the shoe brand, Vans. He painted the mural (location on blog page) outside the BEAMS store. This detailed design expresses exactly Zio’s painting and mural style. Influenced by cubism, classicism and futurism. His inspirations are said to always be changing. His current favorites are Egyptology, French modernism, Xavier Veilhan, Thomas Houseago and Georges Braque.
