Home Food Preservation Classes on Fridays, 4-H Endowment’s new initiative

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Board has no other choice but to cancel the 11th annual 4-H Legacy Dinner which was scheduled for June 11, 2020 at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds. There was simply no way possible to host a dinner for 4-H supporters and friends and be able to practice safe social distancing with over 300 attendees.
To ease the burden of the Fairfield County 4-H Clubs, the Endowment Committee is asking our friends in 4-H for a little help. Each child in the 4-H program is asked to pay a county wide dues fee of $5.00 to offset the cost of materials like flag sets for clubs, Advisor Recognition Pins and Member Handbooks for each family in the 4-H program.

With 1,000 youth currently enrolled in the 4-H program in Fairfield County, our goal is raise $5,000. Any donation of any size would be most welcome as we look new way to “give back” to 4-H youth currently enrolled in the program. If you would like to donate simply send your donation with your complete with name and address to the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Committee, P.O. Box 564, Lancaster, OH, 43130. This series, presented by Jenny Lobb, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator, OSU Extension Franklin County will cover basic methods of food preservation including canning, freezing, drying and fermentation.
Classes will be held on Fridays from 10:00 –10:45 AM

•June 12: Water-bath Canning
•June 19: Pressure Canning
•June 26: Pickling and Fermentation
•July 10: Freezing Fruits and Vegetables
•July 17: Dehydration
