This course serves as an introduction to digital drafting and modeling techniques with an emphasis on design for theatre production. We begin with the basics but move fairly rapidly giving students an opportunity to create a complete set of drafted plates and a full 3D model of a theatrical design. We also examine 3D printing and each student creates and prints a furniture model. Our primary software tools are AutoCAD and Sketchup and over the course of the semester, we learn how to integrate them and use each to its individual strengths.

Housed in the Department of Theatre, this course also looks closely at fabrication methods, design conventions and production considerations for theatre and live entertainment.

The course meets Tuesdays & Thursdays from 11:10 – 12:30.
You can participate 100% online or hybrid.
