G.O.A.L.S.

I am very excited to implement the five parts of the Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S. throughout my college career.  For global awareness, I plan on traveling abroad at least once during my four years as an undergrad at Ohio State.  I am interested in adding a Spanish minor, so I would love to travel to a Spanish-speaking country in order to immerse myself in the Spanish culture.  I would specifically love to travel to Spain as their dialect is different from most other countries, and I am very curious about how their culture differs from other countries I have learned about.  I would love to travel to other places as well to help me prepare to enter the medical field after graduation.

For original inquiry, I plan on becoming involved in multiple research opportunities on campus.  I have recently volunteered at an Ohio State research lab during the summer, and it made me want to become involved in even more research.  I am very interested in psychology-based research and performing experiments that I could design myself by using the scientific method. I cannot wait to explore all of the research opportunities that Ohio State has to offer.

For academic enrichment, I plan on taking challenging coursework in order to enhance my critical thinking skills and push myself academically.  I feel that I was not pushed to my maximum potential in high school, and I am excited to explore my limits regarding my academics here at Ohio State.

For leadership, I plan on attempting to start a new club or being a mentor for other students in difficult pre-med classes at Ohio State.  I would love to create a Spanish Club here, and I would need to utilize my leadership skills to organize, plan and be a role model in the club.  Additionally, I have met some of the peer mentors in some of my science classes, and I admire them greatly. I would love to be like them someday and continue to help those who are struggling and provide the best advice to assure them that they will be successful.

Lastly, I plan to become involved in many areas of service both on campus and around the community.  I currently volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of central Ohio, and I am very passionate about that type of volunteer work.  I have already joined the Rotaract Club, and I am looking forward to engage in service through that organization. I also hope to engage in volunteering at the hospitals on campus, which will provide me with great resources as I get ready to enter the medical field.
