Global Awareness: This year, I have taken two classes to fulfill my global GE credit, English 2202H and Political Science 3220. One of these classes taught me about literature coming from Britain, the other educated me on the economic development of third-world countries, especially those in Southeast Asia, such as Nepal. Also this year, I added a minor in Globalization Studies, which should see me expand my inquiry and awareness even further in this area.
Original Inquiry: This year, I began undergraduate research via Psychology 4998. I work as a Research Assistant in a lab investigating Generalized Anxiety and Chronic Worry. This has really opened my eyes to the research process, specifically the research process as it relates to Psychology. I plan to continue in and perhaps expand my involvement in research in the future.
Academic Enrichment: My Honors Contract demonstrates a commitment to the goal of Academic Enrichment by including a significant amount of Honors and upper-division courses. I have not quite decided on my future aspirations at this point, but I do know that my major in Psychology and my minors in Globalization Studies and Music, Media, and Enterprise align very closely with my interests, and fit together to educate me on a broader topic and perhaps future research area of the impact on the creation of a global social system through shared media, music, and so on on the simultaneous development of a global mental health and consciousness.
Leadership Development: As I stated previously, I work as a Research Assistant, which has helped build my leadership and organizational skills. I also am a member of the Psychology honorary Psi Chi, a member of the club MEISA, and hope to work as a Peer Expert in Psychology 2220 this upcoming semester.
Service Engagement: This year, I worked as a Course Assistant for Psychology 1100. I volunteered in various aspects of the class, such as creating guided notes and proctoring exams. Again, next semester, I hope to work as a Peer Expert, in which I would be sharing my knowledge to help other students succeed in Psychology 2220, a required statistics course for the major.
