Hello. This is the first time in a while that I’ve felt as though I had time to write out a blog post. That feeling may have been wrong, but I think that I’ll need to have more time to myself before that changes. When I say that, I mean that I don’t have very much time to spend doing things that I enjoy when I get home from work. This results in me feeling that nearly everything that else that I do is a chore.
I’ve noticed that I only seem to focus on the negative things that happen to me. I haven’t actually contributed much to this blog but, so far, complaining seems to be a prominent theme. In order to try and change this, I’m going to talk about some things that I did since my last blog post that I enjoyed doing.
On Memorial Day, I attended the Memorial Day Parade that DC has. I did enjoy it; however, no one was throwing any candy. So that was a little bit disappointing. This past weekend, I went into DC and visited a several museums. It was the annual DC gallery walk. If you don’t know what this is, it is a weekend where museums that are not on the national mall (and usually have an entrance fee) host an event where entrance fees are waived. This was exciting for me because I didn’t know that the museums existed and probably would have avoided them if I knew I had to pay to get in. I visited: The Heurich House Museum, Anderson House-The Society of the Cincinnati, and The Philips Collection. Of those three, The Phillips Collection was definitely my favorite. It was a modern art museum that had quite a few paintings that I liked. My favorite part of this collection was the Rothko room. Mark Rothko is one of my favorite artists and I am extremely happy that I got to see a room created for, and filled with, his paintings. If it is not too expensive, I may go back to the museum to visit that room. I also got a new cookbook called The Food Lab and I am looking forward to trying new recipes in it.
I would like to write more; however, it is time for me to go to sleep. I’ll try and write more this weekend, or try to manage my time in a way that allows me to write more.
