This is a picture of my name tag and pin for the professional business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. Before my first couple weeks at college, I did not have any knowledge of business fraternities, but after hearing about the opportunities of service, academic enrichment, and professional development I decided to look into being a part of this community. I was ecstatic to receive my bid because out of 200 applicants I was unsure I would get one my first semester.
Out of the other business fraternities on campus, I knew Delta Sigma Pi was the fit for me. I liked the aspect that everyone is a business major because this helps immensely with academics when navigating courses to take and figuring out my specialization. I was also impressed with all the accomplishments of the people in DSP ranging from interning at amazing places, leading on campus in other student orgs, and serving others across the globe. What ultimately cemented my decision was talking to the people. The conversations were anything but surface level and getting to know them even further throughout my pledge semester showed me how much they genuinely care about the well being of each other.
This group has become another family for me on campus that I know I can go to if I ever need help with anything. Representing the symbols of Delta Sigma Pi on my pin and nametag is a physical reminder to me to embody the fraternity’s pillars of service, professionalism, scholarship, and of course brotherhood in my everyday encounters.
