Year in Review

.) As a political science major, Global Awareness is very important for me. As a student at Ohio State, I have worked on two research projects: The Causes of War Research and Global Terrorism Research. These two projects have improved my knowledge of the globe. Additionally, my coursework in Macroeconomics, Spanish, and Global Politics have developed an extreme awareness of what it means to be aware in the world as a global citizen and appreciate diversity and unique differences. In the future, I hope to visit the world, specifically Spain, to improve my understanding of the world.

.) Regarding the research or creative process, I have participated in two research projects: The Causes of War Research and Global Terrorism Research. The Causes of War Research allowed me to explore and analyze qualitative information, while Global Terrorism Research allowed me to explore and analyze mostly quantitative information. In the future, I hope to devote my career to research and data analysis as a data analyst for the Environmental Protection Agency.

.) My Honors Contract goes up and above the standard with a rigorous academic plan that will not just enrich my understanding of my major, but also provide a firm foundation for the rest of my life and career. I chose my major to be able to explore and have an in-depth understanding of how the American political system works and how policy is formed for use in the governmental field as a data analyst. I chose my minor in statistics to be able to develop the techniques and skills to thrive in my career as a data analyst. Finally, I chose my GE courses with a shade towards economics to be able to fully understand how economics, economic growth, regulations, and the economy intertwine and contrast with environmental protection. I initially chose a major in microbiology which gave me a great background in understanding biological and chemical processes that I believe will greatly help me in my future career at the Environmental Protection Agency. My selections show a commitment to excellence by going up and beyond what is required for myself as an OSU Honors student, such as graduating with 75 credit hours in 3000 level or higher classes out of the minimum of 39, and 38 credit hours in my major instead of the minimum of 30 to show a deep and quality education.

.) I have explored many activities outside of my curricular plans, such as my love for music. I have sung and participated in University Chorus and Men’s Glee Club, as well as taking a Sight-Singing to improve my vocal quality, literacy, and knowledge of music theory. Music has also allowed me to thrive as a leader after joining and becoming a key member of the Men’s Glee Club Communications Committee. The committee has given me a lot of confidence, experience, and ability to lead my fellow peers and citizens. The experience has improved my ability to communicate, network, and lead which are very important for my future career at a major organization such as the Environmental Protection Agency.

.) I have explored many political service-oriented activities such as helping register people to vote and volunteer roles with political organizations. Additionally, Men’s Glee Club allows me to frequently give back to my community by either singing for the community or through service-related projects. In the future, I hope to continue to volunteer and give back through political organizations and in Men’s Glee Club. Service is very important for me to give back to this university, city, and community which has given so much to me already.
