I am Paul J. Sneider, 76 years old, born and raised in Toledo, OH. Have recently (August 22) moved to Hilliard, OH to be close to my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. A retired tool & die maker and manager of a machine shop for over 40 years, I now have time to pursue other interests.
Having many hobbies to keep me busy the one that consumes most of my time is Art. Specifically, painting – Oil Painting. Most of my life involved drawing “straight lines and circles” on prints used in the machine shop. So, seven years ago I decided to take art drawing lessons doing graphite drawings then progressing to watercolors, colored pencils, charcoal, etc. Eventually started oil painting and thoroughly enjoy it, spending the last 6 years doing landscapes, portraits, floral, still life, animal and many other subjects. Will be posting some of works here.
I love learning and finding unique techniques to enhance paintings, and attempting to create fine detail. Most of my paintings have hidden comments, initials, names, and dates which I call “Easter Eggs”.
My education background – 4 different elementary schools in the first four years, two different high schools, 2 years of apprenticeship classes, night courses at the University of Toledo (mostly technical) and many specialty classes and technical training seminars.
World experience – two trips to Europe visiting France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany.
Past & current hobbies – auto repairs, hit & miss engines, 11 years in a drum & bugle corps playing a contrabass bugle, owning show dogs and making 4 AKC champions one of which went to 2010 Westminster Dog Show in New York City taking Second place in PBGV breed (Petite Bassett Griffon Vandeen), genealogy with a database of over 66,000 relatives, Electronics & computers.
