The Showcase Portfolio is designed to display students’ reflection on their development of competence in each of the six Core Educational Objective domains (CEOs) and serves as a culminating project in Part Three of the Lead.Serve.Inspire curriculum. It provides both formative and summative assessment of achievement in the Practice Based & Lifelong Learning Competency.
Assessment
The abilities assessed include the ability to collect and cite adequate external evidence of competency in the six competency domains, the ability to adequately reflect on current level of progress for each competency, and the ability to define goals and plans for further development of these competencies during residency. Students meet in person with two portfolio coaches, (not their primary coach) to present highlights of their portfolio and respond to questions about their portfolio and learning experiences.
Reflective Stories
Artifacts of accomplishments, presented in the form of reflective stories, are intended to be a central feature of the portfolio. The reflective stories should convey a narrative of development in each of the six CEOs by referring to significant learning experiences. They may include any combination of visual, auditory, and textual communication and should include at least two digital artifacts of accomplishments for each story.
Students are also welcome to add additional categories, such as the Career Development category, that would showcase other achievements such as research or other degrees completed.
