Artifact #2

An “artifact” that is significant to me from Autumn semester would be the humanitarian engineering scholars program. This has been the most significant part of my college experience so far. I live with other humanitarian engineering scholars, so I ‘m surrounded with other people who are interested in the same thing as I am, which is also a very valuable experience.  But, the reason I applied to be a humanitarian engineer, was to do good work to all people, and I believe that this explains who I am as a person. I can’t wait to see what the next couple years have in stock for me as I learn the values of becoming a Humanitarian Engineer. Attached is a picture of me with other humanitarian engineers in New York city.

Artifact #1

During high school, I was in band for the entire four years. Our school had an amazing teacher who always knew how to teach his students to succeed. Band helped me grow in so many different ways. It affected how I learned throughout high school, and how I grew as a person. Our band teacher believed the phrase, “practice makes perfect”, so we had band every week for a big chunk of time, especially during marching season. This helped me learn time management skills, that I know others didn’t have yet. I feel very fortunate for being able to be in my high school’s band program.

About Me #2

My top five strengths that I received on the Clifton Strengths test were futuristic, relator, achiever, discipline, and deliberative. First, I received futuristic because I am inspired by what the future holds. I get very excited when I think about what I’ll be doing in the future and that is what fuels my motivation. Second, I received relator because I enjoy close relationships with other people. I like to gain insight on what each individual person is like and after I learn more about them, I like to give advice, if they need help. Third, I received achiever because I have a big amount of stamina and I am driven to work hard. I take deep satisfaction to getting things done and it feels good to me when I complete different tasks. Fourth, I got discipline because I do very much enjoy routine and structure. When I have a plan to follow, it puts me more at ease rather than “playing things by ear.” Fifth, I received deliberative because I take caution and lots of care when I make different decisions. I also anticipate the obstacles that a goal holds and love to overcome these obstacles.

Columbus To Do List (Part 1)

I’ve chosen to adhere to the “Local Food Favorites” list. I am very much looking forward to trying out the local food of Columbus while exploring the city itself. I hope to gain a bigger understanding of Columbus and find different cultures within Columbus through new food favorites. A couple other scholar students and I decided to go Eden Burger for our first experience.

The food at Eden Burger was surprisingly good since it was a totally vegan restaurant. I got a burger with a chocolate shake. The burger had a different texture from a regular burger, but had a pretty close taste. The staff there were really friendly, and with a short wait, the overall experience was very enjoyable. I learned to give any food, even vegan, a chance until you try it out! I would most definitely go back and recommend this to anyone who wants to try new things!
