Hi! I’m McKenzie Scott, but most of my friends call me Kenzie for short! This fall, I’ll be a senior at The Ohio State University, majoring in Geography with minors in Nonprofit Studies and History.
I am currently involved as a Resident Advisor on campus, where I’ve gotten the opportunity to build and be a part of a supportive, welcoming community with my residents and my staff. I also enjoy volunteering at the Homework Help Center at a Columbus Metro Library, and this upcoming semester I’m looking forward to being engaged with the Environmental Change Behavioral Group over at the School of Environment and Natural Resources. This summer, I’m so excited to be a Columbus Foundation Fellow for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, where I will be engaging in outreach, education, and development for the organization.
In the past three years, I’ve studied sustainability and conservation efforts in New Zealand, engaged in service learning trips to Mississippi, Colorado, and South Carolina, served as an environmental education intern at a nature-focused summer camp, and gained certification in the Diversity, Intercultural, and Community Engagement Program. Other fun things I’ve done on campus include dancing at three BuckeyeThons, speaking at the Honors & Scholars Launch last fall, playing trombone in our non-music major band ensemble, and cheering for the Buckeyes at all twenty-one home football games.
Sone fun facts about me–I am 1/3 of a set of triplets, and my brother and sister are the best friends I could ask for! Right now, home is Columbia in central Maryland, but I’m an Air Force brat, so my siblings and I grew up moving around from place to place. Growing up in different countriesĀ has inspired values of open-mindedness, inclusion, and learning in my personal, academic, and professional mindsets.
In my free time, I like to read, bake, run, watch football, sing along to Disney movies, get pie at Sloopy’s, and spend time with friends and family. Above all, IĀ couldn’t be more grateful to attend the school of my dreams, and I can’t wait to see what the years to come will bring!
