Senior Year

As my fellow 2020 grads can attest, graduating amidst a global pandemic is not what we thought would be in store for us at the beginning of our Ohio State journeys. And while it ended on a much more serious note, I spent my fourth and final year:

  • Moving residents into Bradley-Paterson Hall (and spending the year baking pies, grabbing coffee, and writing letters together!)
  • Working with the Environmental Behavior Change Research Group to help with data entry and study procedures
  • Attending all 7 home football games, storming the field on senior day, and traveling to Ann Arbor to watch the Buckeyes go 4-0 against That Team Up North in my tenure as a student
  • Volunteering at the Homework Help Center at the Whetstone Library
  • Flying in a hot air ballooning trip in Morgantown, West Virginia
  • Serving as a manager for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center
  • Dancing in my orange tutu for BuckeyeThon one last time
  • Exploring the world’s largest cave system while leading a Buck-i-Serv trip to Mammoth Caves National Park in Kentucky
  • Sampling many different varieties of chocolate in my chocolate science class
  • Helping close our building and transition residents to online classes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Earning a spot on the Dean’s List for my eighth semester
  • Finishing my very last undergraduate final while sitting on the bed in my childhood home
  • Graduating and singing “Carmen Ohio” in my living room (which my family decorated to look like the Shoe!)

I’m grateful for everything that’s come my way in these four years, and I can’t wait to see what life holds as an Ohio State Alum!

Junior Year

This year definitely went by the fastest of my three so far. As a junior, I:

  • Served as a Resident Advisor for Paterson Hall (my fave programs included Hot Pot, pumpkin painting, and a waste-free wellness event where we made earth-friendly beauty products!)
  • Cheered for the Buckeyes at the TTUN game with my family!
  • Attended the Rose Bowl and kicked off the new year in California with my best friends
  • Declared a minor in History
  • Danced for twelve hours at BuckeyeThon
  • Was selected for the Columbus Foundation Summer Fellowship at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center
  • Began volunteering at a Columbus Metropolitan Library
  • Walked dogs, played with cats, and helped out at the Greenville Humane Society in South Carolina on a Buck-i-Serv trip
  • Registered for a Hot Air Ballooning Class next fall!
  • Completed three years on the Dean’s List

Sophomore Year

Wow, I can’t believe my college career is already halfway over—it’s gone by so fast! I’m excited for the next two years but I’m also sad I only have two football seasons left here. During my second year as a Buckeye, I:

  • Was selected as the Honors Community Advocate for Bradley Hall
  • Served as a site leader during Ohio State’s Community Commitment Day of Service (we helped organize a Goodwill store!)
  • Took my first Geography class (and loved it!)
  • Was elected as the AOSCH representative for the Romophos sophomore honorary
  • Had a blast on my Buck-i-Serv trip to Biloxi, Mississippi (we pulled weeds and played with kids!)
  • Participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service (we helped restock shelves at a hospice center)
  • Was selected as a Resident Advisor for this upcoming fall
  • Raised money for and participated in BuckeyeThon
  • Was selected as a Peer Mentor for Arts and Sciences Honors Survey Class

  • Completed two years on the Dean’s List

Freshman Year

  • Moved away from my family and into college
  • Participated in Ohio State’s Community Commitment Service Day
  • Joined University Band
  • Was selected into Romophos Sophomore Honorary’s 85th class
  • Raised $400 and participated in BuckeyeTHON
  • Was elected as AOSCH representative for Romophos
  • Finished my first year with a 4.0 GPA
  • Studied abroad in New Zealand with the School of Environment and Natural Resources
