As my fellow 2020 grads can attest, graduating amidst a global pandemic is not what we thought would be in store for us at the beginning of our Ohio State journeys. And while it ended on a much more serious note, I spent my fourth and final year:
- Moving residents into Bradley-Paterson Hall (and spending the year baking pies, grabbing coffee, and writing letters together!)
- Working with the Environmental Behavior Change Research Group to help with data entry and study procedures
- Attending all 7 home football games, storming the field on senior day, and traveling to Ann Arbor to watch the Buckeyes go 4-0 against That Team Up North in my tenure as a student
- Volunteering at the Homework Help Center at the Whetstone Library
- Flying in a hot air ballooning trip in Morgantown, West Virginia
- Serving as a manager for the Grange Insurance Audubon Center
- Dancing in my orange tutu for BuckeyeThon one last time
- Exploring the world’s largest cave system while leading a Buck-i-Serv trip to Mammoth Caves National Park in Kentucky
- Sampling many different varieties of chocolate in my chocolate science class
- Helping close our building and transition residents to online classes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic
- Earning a spot on the Dean’s List for my eighth semester
- Finishing my very last undergraduate final while sitting on the bed in my childhood home
- Graduating and singing “Carmen Ohio” in my living room (which my family decorated to look like the Shoe!)
I’m grateful for everything that’s come my way in these four years, and I can’t wait to see what life holds as an Ohio State Alum!
