Survey Flier Scooters

Results

Safety

(1) – Does not feel safe / (5) – Feels safe

Our results from safety showed that 57.7% of riders feel moderately to not safe while 65.3% pedestrians feel the same. The reasons for not feeling safe are: no helmets, sidewalks being congested with unused scooters and riders, crashes and injuries, slowing down street traffic, and brake malfunctions.

Experience

(1) – Mechanical issues, Not satisfied / (5) – No mechanical issues, Satisfied

There was only a 17% record of users being less than moderately satisfied with their riding experience. These riders were unsatisfied for many reasons due to malfunctions with the scooters. These include: brakes, worn tires, dead batteries, misaligned wheels, acceleration issues, faulty QR codes, general damage, broken scooters that were still connected, and connectivity issues.

As seen above, the vast majority of riders that took our survey ranged in age from 18-23. This is mostly due to the fact that students on campus were targeted as the survey was posted around campus and on social media.

The rest of our survey showed that there were 50% of riders that used a scooter at least a couple of times per month or more. Of this percent, 30% of those riders used a scooter a couple times a week or everyday. It was also found that 19.8% of riders ride scooters in bad weather.

Our survey showed that people also have seen scooters throughout the United States. The following were our results showing how many were people reported seeing scooters in each city:

  • (65) – Columbus (OH)
  • (5) – L.A. (CA)
  • (4) – D.C, Cleveland (OH)
  • (3) – Cincinnati (OH)
  • (2) – Detroit (MI)
  • (1) – Milwaukee (WI), Baltimore (MD), State College (PA), St. Louis (MO), Oxford (OH), Atlanta (GA), Charlotte (NC)
