Astoria-Marianas Trench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYcDgRv53lk

This track means a lot to me because it is by my favorite band, who I saw and met in February. I think it is a great opening song on their new album and is inspiring. One of the ending lines is also my tattoo, so it means a lot to me. It was also the opening when I saw them live, and it was amazing to see.

Ever After-Marianas Trench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cts6y-v7hhU

Ever After has been a song I have listened to a lot, it makes me feel empowered and is another opening number on the band’s third album. The album actually tells a story with the song, and each song leads into each other, which I find genius and amazing. There are memories caught up in this song.

Welcome to the Show-Adam Lambert ft. Laleh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z73fSxKpYmA

This song welcomes me to the life of Adam Lambert, and I like the feeling this gives. It also makes me feel like I am welcoming people into my own life. This makes me feel cool, not going to lie.

Best Song Ever-One Direction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_v9MY_FMcw

Best Song Ever is a song that gets played in the summer on the boat by my dad on the boat, and by my roommate and I on occasion. It reminds me of good times, and we can also recite the music video lines, which is always fun. It was also the closer to their concert we saw at the shoe, so it is nice to have the memory as well.

Desperate Measures-Marianas Trench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTiIAW7qmGU

Desperate Measures is my ultimate jam. It makes me so happy when it comes on, it is catchy and dancy and everything you could want in a song. The music video is funny and the lyrics are great.

And So It Goes-Marianas Trench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3EsAVX3gAo

This a cover, but it is an acapella version. I think the song’s lyrics are meaningful, you can relate to them in some way. It is also a beautiful song and fun to sing.

Lover Dearest-Marianas Trench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqGVOSkAY4M

Lover Dearest is a song about the lead singer’s drug addiction. It is a beautiful, yet sad song because of this, it is a letter to his drug. It is emotional on stage. It is a very emotion-filled song, even if you haven’t ever been addicted to a drug.

End of an Era-Marianas Trench https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqHJ8oOXJDY

This song is the last song of their newest album, and I love it so much because it references all of the bands past albums in some way, whether it be in lyrics or the music itself. It also has so much meaning to me because of what I was feeling while listening to it. It is an amazing, cathartic song. I also saw this performed live, it was the closer to the show as well.

This experience was a fun and new one for me. I met Tom LaStrange in the Baker West lobby on a Thursday afternoon.  We talked about where we wanted to go to take the pictures, and on our way to the mirror lake we discussed our majors, where we were from, and our interests. One of Tom’s interests is musical theater, and we discussed those a bit, such as Les Miserables and Rent. We first went to the mirror lake for my picture, and after Tom got it I asked him where he wanted to go for his picture. We decided to walk while he thought about it, and eventually made our way to the number garden. We wandered around for a little bit, trying to decide what would be a good picture, and so I asked Tom which number was his favorite. He liked the gold number six, but one of the problems was it was shinier on the opposite side. So I took the picture from that side, Tom said the backwards part also represented him, and he asked if I could take it lower, to where it was almost looming over us. And that is the picture I have posted here. This picture represents Tom’s personality in many ways. First, the number symbolizes things like Tom’s major, which has to do with computers, which requires math, and also to me helps relate to his personal technology, like his iPhone and Apple Watch. Secondly, the number facing backwards shows that Tom is a little “kooky” but  not in a negative way. Finally, the overall picture really represents Tom’s personality.

About Me

I am from a small town called Logan in Ohio, where the people are nice but not very open-minded (unlike myself). Columbus is much bigger and more progressive than my hometown, and has a lot of opportunities. Some of my favorite memories in high school were made just hanging out with my friends, watching my school’s plays and shows, and performing in show choir. I also really liked taking a couple drama classes and going on field trips with these classes to see shows at places such as OU and OUL. I took a lot of honors courses in high school, as well as two ap classes. I hate math. Science is ok but not really my main field of interest. I am currently undecided with my major here at OSU. I am a pretty creative person, I enjoy singing and dancing and writing, and a little bit of acting, as well as reading and analyzing plays. Fun fact is I love animals, especially dogs.
