In this week, the group was exposed to the reflectance sensor hardware as part of the development of AEV project. The sample AEV design was constructed as shown in figure 1 before installing the reflectance sensor. To identify the direction of the vehicle whether it was moving forward or backward, the wheel of the vehicle was spun and a number shown on the screen indicates the direction. The group attempted to program the arduino to track the distance it went along the rail. In order to do this, a basic concept for the arduino was done as shown in figure 2.
On the same day, the group tested the efficiency of propellers. Two types of different propeller were tested to indicate which propeller was more efficient, some representatives observed push configuration propellers ,and some observed pull configuration propellers. One person who represented group F went to the front and recorded the data obtained from the wind tunnel. The representative from F group observed a puller configuration of EP-2510 type propellers and the result was compared to the data from other groups. The comparing of two different propeller designs will help discover which propellers are the most efficient to use in the AEV project.
The experiments were done in order to determine the most efficient way to move the AEV. When tested on the track, the AEV was able to perform somewhat, however it tilted slightly and didn’t move for the entire duration of the code. The knowledge gained in this lab will be very helpful in the basic formatting of the code because the power can now be used to calculate what percentage the propellers should be used at as well as what configuration and what propellers to use.

Team meeting notes
Date: 01 – Feb – 2017
Time: 3:00 pm (Face to Face)
Members Present: Shane, Stephen
Topics Discussed:
-To do list
-Members Specialties
-Work times
_________________________________________________________
Objective: Create a To do list so everyone can be on the same page and to track progress as Progress Report is being completed. Get everyone to start with something they are comfortable with.
_________________________________________________________
To do/Action Items:
-Create a To do list
-Talk about the list and who would best fit where
-Assign Deadlines for sections of the Report
_________________________________________________________
Decisions:
-Shane will do more of the formatting and focus on understanding of how to best convey ideas.
-Stephen will do more of the editing and ensuring proper grammar
-Amirah will do on explanation of results and situation.
-Sugene will go over calculations, graphs, and figures for correctness, along with any additional writing.
_________________________________________________________
Reflections:
-Assigning everyone roles that play well to their strengths as well as having a written down list of goals helps to get everyone on the same page.
