Secret Admirer

I have a confession.  I’m secretly addicted to the Ohio State surplus supply.

I mean I COULD find use for a lot of AT&T Ohio State themed pay phones!  Pay phones are part of the world gone analog theme after all, its a way of remembering old times and staying true to your old analog self.  Some day I’ll be old, sitting in a rocking chair in a sun room telling stories to kids about “well when I was your age, we didn’t have Google Thought Say Telepath technology, heck we used a think called a phone, and it was physical, yes you’d even use these old phones stuck to walls and have to pay!” , and yes the children would laugh at their old old uncle dan.  Yes I look forward to those years (not really), but these phones, this lot could be a part of my life, in my basement with my wife yelling at me and hiding them under the floorboards of the house.  Memories trapped forever!

Yes I love Ohio State surplus.  I love the idea of old stuff.  When I look at these phones I see old things, i see physical keys, everything is a touch screen these days, everything is a gesture, but these babies, they gone physical yall and that rocks.  Probably could make some cool jewelry out of the keys or pieces of electronics, wear them at parties and wait for the guy coming up to you asking “are you really wearing the guts of a pay-phone around your neck..” and proudly I will say to them, why yes i am.

Just wish there was more.  Ohio State surplus needs an app, they need those deals in OSU Mobile, actually no, OSU Mobile has too much in it already.  Soon OSU Mobile will allow you to realign the planets, I l0ve the app don’t get me wrong its just when we pile in everything tend to stick to constraints of the ux inside the app and how it was built.  I want an instagram app that allows me to flick thru the cool stuff the university is selling.  Visual and fun.

I’ve yet to buy anything yet.  I want Ohio State to do their version of Storage Wars though, I want the invite to come to a locker on campus and we just all look in and bid on whats inside.  That’d be a fun parody for school lockers too really, looking at students locker filled with books, papers, smelly socks and whatever else, and then bidding on it.

Oh Ohio you are a place of bargains to be!
