Start Here: To-Do List

Wondering what to do first?

Welcome to the RN to BSN program! We are so glad you are here! Our names are Emily Houlis, Emily Reineck and Adam Hemminger and we serve as Academic Advisors for students enrolled in the RN to BSN program.  Think of us as your connection to Ohio State.  We are here to help you navigate anything related to Ohio State and the RN to BSN program. Please contact CON-advising@osu.edu for assistance and support.

Now that you have officially been accepted, you will need to complete the following steps:

  • Review the RN to BSN To-Do List and complete the items by the given deadlines
  • Start checking your Buckeyemail e-mail account for communications from our office
  • Complete your financial responsibility statement in Buckeyelink
  • Schedule your New Student Advising Appointment by emailing CON-advising@osu.edu with your availability
    • All newly admitted students are required to meet individually with their Academic Advisor from the RN to BSN program.  The meeting between you and your assigned advisor will take place over Zoom.  During this appointment your advisor will create a personalized curriculum plan, identify your anticipated graduation date, review transfer credit, and assist with course registration.  The New Student Advising Appointment will also be a great time to ask any questions you may have!
  • Review the orientation materials located in Carmen
    • The orientation materials, located on Carmen, cover topics related to the vision and mission of the College of Nursing, academic and compliance program requirements, and campus resources and college support services.
  • Looking Ahead to Graduation
    • In order to earn a degree from The Ohio State University, students must complete all General Education requirements in addition to nursing courses and earn a minimum of 120 credit hours.  While transfer credit coursework may apply to these requirements if they meet criteria, students must earn a minimum of 30 credit hours at Ohio State in order to earn a bachelor’s degree from this institution.
    • Beyond requirements to earn a degree, if a student wishes to be eligible for Latin honors upon graduation, they must earn a minimum of 60 credit hours from coursework taken at The Ohio State University.  This may require students to take additional coursework beyond the minimum degree requirements.  More information on Latin Honors may be found in your student handbook.

Congratulations and we can’t wait to get started on this journey with you!
