Student membership eligibility
- GPA ≥ 3.5 out of 4.0
- Classes completed in the core areas of study
- Food Chemistry and Analysis
- Food Safety and Microbiology
- Food Processing and Engineering
- Graduate students must have completed at least two semesters
If you have received an email from the department inviting you to apply, please do not hesitate! Follow the instructions below to complete your self-nomination.
Application process
- Download the nomination form here.
- Fill out each applicable section of the form (please write the description in third person).
- Find two current members to sign your form in support of your nomination – at least one nominator must be a faculty member. Ask whoever you are most comfortable with, but Dr. Barringer is our point person and a good person to ask if you are unsure.
- Send the completed application to Dr. Barringer (barringer.11@osu.edu).
The due for the first-year membership is covered by the Department of Food Science and Technology at Dr. Ken Lee’s sponsorship. However, you do need to keep paying the $20-due years after to keep good standing of membership. Dues can be paid online through Phi Tau Sigma website for dues.
