Artifacts

My Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations (SCNO) t-shirt is representative than more than just a comfy piece of clothing to me. When I started my first semester at Ohio State, I lacked a sense of direction. I felt overwhelmed by all the choices for student involvement and doubted my capabilities as a business student. When I saw an SCNO recruitment tabling at Fisher Fall Frenzy, the organization struck my interest but seemed unattainable. Yes, I have a passion for non-profits, but I know nothing about consulting. Yes, I am a business student, but I have never had a formal interview. I just had to try for it. Going through the recruitment process and being ultimately accepted into SCNO challenged the expectations I had placed on myself as a student. This was the first organization I joined at Ohio State, and have found an amazing network of students and professionals through this involvement. I was given the opportunity to work with an amazing sustainability non-profit this past semester along with a project team I know call friends.  I have recognized a need to continually push my boundaries and pursue my passions. I would like to professionally involve myself in the non-profit sector in some way after college and will continue to find organizations at Ohio State that challenge me as SCNO does.

About Emily Perrin

My name is Emily Perrin and I am a first-year student currently studying in the Max M. Fisher College of Business at Ohio State. I grew up in Milford, Ohio, a suburb outside of Cincinnati (where I attended many late night Skyline Chili visits), knowing I wanted to find my academic home at a college that would challenge me and help me grow in both character and scholarship. This criteria ultimately led me to consider and accept enrollment at Ohio State where I am an Economics major and English minor, with the ultimate goal of professional consulting and market research after college. I have involved myself in organizations such as Student Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations (SCNO), Undergraduate Business Women’s Association (UBWA), and Business Scholars while on campus. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy knitting, poorly executing yoga, and listening to podcasts on topics that range from entrepreneurship to the stories of everyday, recognizable sounds. Before I graduate, I hope to participate in the Buckeyethon dance marathon all four years of my undergraduate, hold an executive position within a Fisher organization, and reduce my caffeine dependency.
