The MLA: A History in Pictures
Our Programs Through the Ages
In gathering material for this website, I was struck by the long and storied history of the oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental anesthesiology programs at OSU. Since the time of the last update on the history of the program published in the 2003 Tira Dentes, the program has graduated an additional 23 oral and maxillofacial surgeons, for a total of 145, and an additional 14 dentist anesthesiologists for a total of 28. It is truly remarkable to consider a residency program with such an amazing history. The impact of 173 graduates moving throughout the country and indeed the world to share their expertise, help patients, and, in several cases, train the next generation, is remarkable. It’s a great life!
Those Mustachioed Days
This was probably 2010 (?). Marvin Jabero and Greg Rekos encouraged the Division to go mustache crazy – and of course, we obliged.

Aloha — see you there!
Who was Morgan L. Allison?
I was organizing the library in the OMFS Clinic recently when I came across this edition of Anesthesia Progress. It seemed fitting as we gather to celebrate another group of outstanding graduates at our annual MLA event, that we take a moment to reflect on the great man who started it all.
