Ohio winters can be chilly, but they don’t have to be boring!

Between now and June OMK will be offering four opportunities to order activity books for your family, and they are completely free.

To kick us off, we are offering 7 books that will give your family activities to complete while staying indoors.

This month’s texts are:

Paid Research Opportunity for Military Teens

Canines Providing Assistance to Wounded Warriors at Florida Atlantic University is looking for military teens to participate in a study consisting of three online 30-minute surveys over the course of 9 months.

Their study is titled “Pet Dogs, Resilience, and Well-being in Military Adolescents.” The project hopes to use the viewpoints of military teens to study the relationship between resilience and well-being for military teenagers who do or do not own a pet dog.

A $20 gift card is provided after the completion of each survey, for a total of $60 after completing all three surveys.

Qualifications to participate are:

  • Be 12-18 years old
  • Have a parent or guardian provide parental permission to participate
  • Either own a pet dog or not
  • Have a parent or guardian in active duty or a Veteran parent/guardian
  • Have access to a tablet, computer, or smartphone with Wifi.

2023 Events

JUNE

Teen Leadership Camp

Provides an opportunity for teens to participate in leadership workshops in a camp setting where they will develop confidence, resilience, friendships, and leadership skills that will last a lifetime.

Dates: Monday, June 5 to Friday, June 9

Location: Central Ohio

Age: 13 – 17 years of age by the time of camp

Cost: Still Being Finalized

Register: Will go live mid-March

Deadline: 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 30, 2023

 

JULY

Teen Kelleys Island Camp

A 5-day and 4-night adventure on Kelleys Island. Activities include sailing, swimming, rafting, kayaking, volleyball, soccer, archery, lined dances, crafts, campfire, and more!

Dates: Sunday, July 30 to Thursday, August 3

Location: Kelleys Island

Age: 12 – 15 years of age by the time of camp

Cost: Still Being Finalized

Register: Will go live in early May

Deadline: 11:59 pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023

 

August

Youth Kelleys Island Camp

A 5-day and 4-night adventure on Kelleys Island. Activities include sailing, swimming, rafting, kayaking, volleyball, soccer, archery, lined dances, crafts, campfire, and more!

Winter Wonderland

A free event for all Ohio Military, Veterans, and Gold Star Families! Join in the family fun for all ages! Activities include photos with Santa, cookie decorating, hot chocolate, arts and crafts, and more!

Date: Saturday, December 9th, 2023, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Location: Central Ohio

Cost: FREE

Register: Will go live in early October

Deadline: 11:59pm on Sunday, November 26, 2022
