Staff Forum Bylaws

ARTICLE 1: NAME

The name of the organization shall be the Staff Forum.

ARTICLE 2: PURPOSE

  1. The primary purpose of the Forum is to provide a regularly scheduled forum to share information and to provide an opportunity for inter-departmental updates and communication.

ARTICLE 3: OFFICERS

  1. Officers of the Staff Forum shall be Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary.
  2. Duties
    1. Chair shall be the spokesperson for the Staff Forum and preside over monthly meetings. The Chair sets the monthly agenda, announces meetings via email; manages the Staff Forum budget account; assists in room set up and clean up on the day of the meeting; collects questions from staff members; and keeps the Staff Forum website up to date.
    2. Vice Chair shall support and assist the Chair and preside at Staff Forum meetings in the absence of the Chair. The Vice Chair shall arrange hosts for meetings each quarter; remind hosts of their assigned month; reserve rooms for the monthly meetings; creating slideshows for the monthly meetings; and assist in setting and cleaning up on the day of the meeting.
    3. Secretary shall prepare a sign in sheet and record attendance at the Staff Forum meetings, record and distribute notes of the Staff Forum meetings to all staff members via email and assist with set up and clean up on the day of the meeting.
  3. Terms of Office
    1. Staff members shall volunteer to serve in the role of officers.
    2. The Chair shall serve a one-year term in office. After one year, or if the Chair steps down early, the role of chair will be offered to the Vice Chair. Should the Vice Chair decline the position, it will be offered to the Secretary.
    3. The now vacant Vice Chair position will be offered to the Secretary.
    4. Once remaining Staff Forum officers have accepted or declined new positions, they will be responsible for recruiting new members to fill roles which are vacant.
    5. New terms shall commence each Fall semester on September 1.

ARTICLE 4: MEMBERSHIP

  1. All full- and part-time staff and administrator currently employed at the Central Ohio Technical College or The Ohio State University at Newark are members of the Staff Forum and are eligible to attend all open meetings and propose agenda items.

ARTICLE 5: MEETINGS

  1. The Staff Forum officers shall meet monthly to finalize the upcoming Staff Forum meeting agenda.
  2. Open meetings of the Staff Forum shall take place monthly throughout the year. Such meetings are open to the full membership as defined in Article 4.

ARTICLE 7: BUDGET

  1. The Staff Forum Chair serves as the unit budget manager for the Staff Forum budget. The budget supports the purchase of supplies for the monthly meetings.
