The English department at Ohio State Newark loves to reward students for their hard work, leadership, and even their writing! There are a plethora of awards for English students who work hard and strive to make an impact on campus and in their communities.
Ohio State Newark English Essay Awards competition
Annually, our English department hosts an essay contest in the spring where English students (majors and minors) can submit their best essay from the past year. From poetry analysis to thesis work, the two best essays will receive a cash prize and recognition. Here are some of the past winners below:

The English Program Citizenship Award is rewarded to a graduating senior that has shown an outstanding commitment to the work and community of the English Department as a whole. Based on stellar work and participation, the English staff and faculty choose the recipient of this award.
