About Me

Cassandra Moats Resume

Hello! My name is Cassandra Moats and I am a second year physics and astronomy major from Economy, Pennsylvania. I currently am a member of STEM Exploration and Engagement Scholars. STEM EE Scholars is broadening my experiences in science, making volunteering and leadership a part of my everyday life, and helping me establish and work towards clear goals for my future.

Prior to attending Ohio State, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oakland Catholic High School. In my time at Oakland Catholic I was recognized as a 2019 National Center for Women and Information Technology Aspirations in Computing Western & Central Pennsylvania Affiliate Winner, a Global Competence Initiative Scholar, and an AP Scholar. I was an active member of the National Honors Society. I also received a Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Six-Year Perseverance Award for my commitment to the organization and a Girl Scout Silver Award.

At Ohio State, I am currently involved in the Society of Physics Students and the Astronomical Society. In the upcoming months, I am planning on getting involved in Sigma Pi Sigma, Casual Debate Club, and Buckeye Space Launch.

My love for science goes deeper than just a career or a hobby: science is ingrained in my very psyche. I have always questioned the universe and I learn from answering the “why” of life. From a very early age, I knew that I wanted to have a in career science. In sixth grade, I found my passion for wanting to know more about how the universe works. Soon after, I realized that the answer to these questions lies in the field of physics. Since this realization, I have continued to fall in love with physics and am now confident that my future lies in the field. I am a driven, goal-oriented, research-minded individual, and I plan to obtain my doctorate degree in physics and become a researcher. I enjoy learning about the research in different disciplines of physics. I hope to get involved in undergraduate research and continue to explore the various disciplines of physics to discern what I may want to work on in the future.
