Year in Review

My second year here at the Ohio State University has been one of extreme growth and personal achievement. I added several new involvements outside of the classroom, managed to finish off all of my general education and business core requirements, and worked a part-time job the second half of the year.

In terms of involvements, I am more than happy to announce that I have been able to add a variety of experiences to my resume. Specifically, I was selected as the Vice President of Marketing and Communication for IRIS, the Director of Visual and Fine Arts for OUAB, and as the Peer Chair for an early arrival program called R-LEAD. I was also graciously accepted as an University Innovation Fellow and as a Group Fitness Monitor at the RPAC under Recreational Sports. All of these experiences culminated into a wave of self-development that led me to grow both as a human and as a professional. I personally feel more empowered to voice my opinions, stand up for what I believe in, and challenge what I don’t understand. I am most excited to serve as the Director of Visual and Fine Arts, specifically because I have dedicated so much time into that organization. Additionally, I can’t wait to see what creative ideas my committee comes up with for the coming year. I believe that we as a community have the potential to make significant change on campus and there is nothing more I can ask for as a change agent.

My course work this year has been slightly overwhelming. I have found myself spending more and more nights without sleep, which is fine in the short-term but I genuinely need to consider the future impact it’ll have on my health. I tell myself that it is worth it to suffer now as a means to excel in the future, however I don’t know how true this actually is. I am glad to finally be entering my major’s classes, and be able to genuinely explore what I came to college for. Personally, I think the process of getting here is mixed in with a lot of classes that don’t necessarily need to exist or need to be revamped to be more interactive.

I made a lot of new friendships this year, each of which brought a new perspective into my life. I believe each new individual is an opportunity for me to explore the world, and I realize that my greatest joy in life stems from learning from others and watching them grow through our conversations.

Overall, this year has been tremendous in terms of self-development. I can confidently say that I am proud, but not satisfied quite yet

The Ohio Union Activities Board

To live on a campus as large as Ohio State’s offers the opportunity to meet a variety of people. My passion for life is to meet as many people as possible, so as to gain a better understanding of the world we live in. Following this passion lead me to apply for the Ohio Union Activities Board. This organization is built around planning and enacting events that range from weekly movies to bringing in famous talent to present lectures.

During one of the larger events, I had the opportunity to serve as the hospitality lead for the lead composer of La La Land, Justin Hurwitz. It’s experiences like these that drive me to challenge myself with larger goals. Being able to create an event that brought out hundreds of students and watching as their faces were encompassed with happiness brought me satisfaction. This event specifically was a highlight of my first semester at Ohio State, one that I will carry with me forever.

About Me

Hello all! My name is  Amun Mehta, and I am from Troy, Michigan. I am a direct admit to the Fisher College of Business and a business scholar. I am pursuing a specialization in Operations management, and still deciding on a minor.

I made it a personal goal to be as involved on campus as I could be and through this I found myself joining a variety of organizations. These organizations include the Ohio Union Activities Board, Undergraduate Student Government, and Buckeye Operations Management Society. These organizations have provided me with a foundation to foster a better environment for all students to enjoy their time on campus. The Ohio Union Activities Board is where I find myself most at home, among the chaos of planning events and being project/hospitality lead for a variety of talent.

Other passions of mine include running, drawing, and studying Chinese culture and language. After moving to China for a year, my love for both the people and the culture grew immensely. I have made it a goal to one day move to Asia to work abroad. I believe traveling the world has also brought out an extremely open-minded characteristic out of me. I love meeting new people and listening to the stories they have and the experiences they have encountered.

This portfolio is just a brief glimpse into the world I live in. I pride myself on being able to establish relationships with anyone I meet through my diverse experiences and aforementioned mindset. My curiosity of others drives me to create a world where we all feel safe to speak and follow our passions freely.
