Get Latest Update About Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia on Webcast. This webcast will discuss Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. This presentation will first discuss the approach and diagnosis to lymphocytosis. It will use case presentations to highlight the presentation and evaluation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The presenter will also review complications and health maintenance implications for CLL. The second half of the talk will discuss staging and risk stratification. The presenter will review the rationale for observation and indications for treatment as well as the various different treatment options and their associated side effects.
Patients with CLL can have nonspecific symptoms like fatigue and lymphadenopathy—or be entirely asymptomatic. As a result, many cases of CLL are first detected incidentally through routine bloodwork showing lymphocytosis. Unlike many cancers, CLL often progresses so slowly that some patients may not need treatment. Others may not be so lucky and suffer devastating complications such as cytopenias, infections, and secondary malignancies. On this webcast, we’ve invited two Ohio State University’s Hematology experts who both specialize in CLL to discuss this common subtype of Leukemia. How do we diagnose it? And how do we manage it? We’re pleased to introduce Assistant Professor of Hematology Dr. Aseel Alsouqi. Aseel treats not only patients with CLL but also non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is an investigator on several clinical trials for leukemia and lymphoma. We also have Associate Professor of Hematology Dr. Seema Bhat. In addition to her clinical treating of patients with CLL, Seema is also a principal investigator on clinical trials for novel CLL therapies.
