OSU: Just Breathe Program:
URL: https://go.osu.edu/justbreathe
Stress symptoms can affect your body, emotions, thoughts and behavior. Being able to recognize common stress symptoms can give you a jump on managing them. Stress that’s left unmanaged can contribute to many health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. To effectively combat stress, we need to activate the body’s natural relaxation response. You can do this by practicing relaxation techniques such as deep breathing.
Wexner Medical Center Guided Mindfulness Practices:
https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/integrative-health/resources/mindfulness-practices
Mindful practices can reduce symptoms related to anxiety, chronic pain, depression, insomnia and stress. They also can improve attention and memory and decrease inflammatory biomarkers, such as cytokines. Imaging studies have shown that mindfulness practices can actually change the brain to increase the size and activity of areas associated with executive function, thereby increasing clarity, cognitive function and effectiveness. Mindful clinicians tend to elicit greater patient satisfaction and adherence.
