Superheroes have always fascinated the world with their fantastical powers. Haven’t you always wanted to fly, control the elements, read and control minds or be invisible? As we make advances in nanotechnology and materials research, we are making exciting advances that are almost superhero-like. Scientists have discovered applications ranging from targeted drug delivery, smart materials, molecular motors and advanced sensors.
It’s time for the Generation Nano: Small Science, Superheroes competition! Generation Nano challenges high school students to create a superhero that uses nanotechnology to solve crimes and meet today’s challenges and then tell their hero’s story in a comic and video.
A complete entry has three components: a short, written entry, a short video and a comic strip. The entry should introduce the superhero and demonstrate how nanotechnology research is incorporated into the hero’s story to address the chosen mission. Winners will receive cash prizes. Submissions are due by January 31, 2017.
