Undergraduate students

Isabella Byrd

I’m a 5th year undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, majoring in Natural Resource Management, with a specialization in Administration and Management and a Studio Art minor. I grew up in Canal Winchester, Ohio. I have worked with the Ohio EPA in the Division of Surface Water for three summers —two as a Surface Water Modeling intern and one as a Water Quality intern. I have also worked as a Soil Drainage Research Assistant for the USDA ARS. Outside of the classroom, I serve as the co-president and Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed liaison for the Society of Ecological Restoration, and as a censor for Alpha Zeta Partners. I enjoy volunteering, hiking, camping, and creating art.

Maggie Duden

I’m a 4th year undergraduate student here at The Ohio State University, majoring in Environmental Science – with a specialization in Ecosystem Restoration. I grew up in Wauseon, Ohio, a small rural town in the northwest corner. My past two seasonal jobs have been for park districts – two summers ago for Metroparks Toledo, and this past summer for Columbus and Franklin County Metroparks. Both positions included working with some wonderful volunteers, and I’m excited to learn more about how people interact with their environments through education in the Learning Ecologies Lab! Outside of school, I enjoy running and being a part of the OSU Run Club, eating yummy food, drinking local coffee, and hanging out with my seven roommates!

Nezzie O’Malley

I am a 4th year undergraduate student majoring in Natural Resource Management at The Ohio State University. I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, about a mile north of campus, so I am a lifelong Buckeye. I am currently working on my honors thesis, exploring the connections teens form between their learning in an urban agriculture program and other parts of their lives. I spent the last two summers working on a regenerative farm connecting with food systems, growing our volunteer programming, participating in outreach, and learning with/from the kids who frequented our children’s garden. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, water coloring, and reading historical fiction novels.
